Spirituality
As the term is used in the Bible, spirituality can be described as a deep desire and willingness to please God and adopt his way of thinking.

A spiritual person strives to live his life in harmony with God’s values and under the direction of His holy spirit. Romans 8:5; Ephesians 5:1.
The Bible often uses contrasts to explain spirituality. For example, unlike a spiritual person, “a physical man does not accept the things of the spirit of God,” or God’s teachings. (1 Corinthians 2:14-16) In contrast with spiritual people, fleshly people are prone to “jealousy and strife” rather than generosity and peace. (1 Corinthians 3:1-3)
And those whose speech slanders and separates close friends are called “animalistic men, not having spirituality.”—Jude 19; Proverbs 16:28.
Where does spirituality come from?
We have the capacity for spirituality because we are made in God’s image. (Genesis 1:27) Thus, it is not surprising that most people have some appreciation and a yearning for things that are not material or physical.
We have an inborn ability to display qualities like those of God, such as peace, mercy, and impartiality. (James 3:17) Further, God strengthens the spirituality of those who strive to obey his commands.—Acts 5:32.
Why is spirituality important?
Spirituality leads to “life and peace.” (Romans 8:6) These gifts from God have value beyond compare.
Life : God promises to grant everlasting life to spiritual people.—John 17:3; Galatians 6:8.
Peace : This is peace with God. Those who focus only on their physical needs are enemies of God. (Romans 8:7) Further, God rewards those who cultivate spirituality with “the peace of God that surpasses all understanding.” (Philippians 4:6, 7) Such inner peace helps them to find happiness in life.—Matthew 5:3.
Christian spirituality
is a consciousness of fellowship with the Spirit of Christ, uninterrupted by carnality and sin. Christian spirituality develops when a born-again believer makes a consistent and ongoing choice to surrender to the ministry of the Holy Spirit. When we are born again, we receive the Holy Spirit who seals us for the day of redemption (Ephesians 1:13; 4:30). Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit would lead us “into all truth” (John 16:13). Part of that truth is taking the things of God and applying them to our lives. When that application is made, the believer then makes a choice to allow the Holy Spirit to control him/her.
True Christian spirituality is based upon the extent to which a born-again believer allows the Holy Spirit to lead and control his or her life.It should be noted here that “spiritual” does not mean looking down on those who are not spiritual, but working to meet people where they’re at and inspire them toward spirituality.
It has been confirmed that spirituality is the bedrock of destiny. Your spiritual root in God determines what you can become in life. Your depth in God determines your success in life and destiny. You cannot go far with God and lag behind in life.
Why is spirituality important to destiny?
Spirituality gives bearing to life and destiny (Isaiah 37:31).
Bearing to life is like what the control tower is to an aircraft. This means, solid spirituality guarantees safety of flight and landing. The solidity of your spirituality is the guarantee of your success and safety in life. If your spiritual life is solid, you must live well and end well in life. Your destiny cannot crash if your spiritual life is in place.
So, spirituality gives bearing to your destiny. You are not permitted to be a failure in life if your spirituality is in place.
The quality of your devotion to God determines the quality of your destiny on earth (Isaiah 37:31).
To succeed with God is to succeed in life and to fail with God is failure in life. Spirituality is a major course in the school of life. It is a major course that determines your success in other courses of life. If you pass it, it is guaranteed that you can pass other courses in life.Do not take your spirituality for granted. Build a solid spiritual life with God.We must make up our mind to have a strong spiritual life by building our relationship with God in praying, fasting, worshipping, studying and obeying the Word of God.
Avoid all forms of spiritual lethargy and indolence.
PRAYER
Thank You Lord for showing me the place of spirituality in life and my destiny. I receive the grace and discipline to maintain a solid spiritual life with You, Lord, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
