Songs of Solomon 8:7 Many waters cannot quench love, Nor can the floods drown it. If a man would give for love, All the wealth of his house, It would be utterly despised.

Song of Songs is a series of lyrical love poem, believed to be written by King Solomon. Much has been written on the topic of love, many movies are made, many poems penned, many books scripted. As we all long for a fulfilling life, love ranks on the top. Everyone is looking for a little love in this loveless, dark world. When you truly love someone, you are willing to endure and go to any extent for that person. Many waters cannot quench it, nor floods drown it. We know that Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were warned that they would be thrown into a blazing furnace if they did not worship the gold image but, they replied to King Nebuchadnezzar that Dan 3:18 But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.” They were willing to die for the love they had for the one living God. The bible is a love story cover to cover, God is love, Jesus endured the cross due to the immense love, ultimate expression of love He had for us, we who were not worthy to be loved. He knew what we were yet, He loved us unconditionally. And, once you taste His love, you can’t live without Him. Thank God He decided to meet me at the place where I was in miry clay, I have tasted His love and nothing quenches the yearning for Him. Paul in his first letter to the Church of Corinth concludes in the 13th chapter that greatest of all is Love. It is priceless, it can’t be bought and of high value. Everyone wants to be loved and we have seen that many of the teens and youth fall into wrong companionship and activities due to lack of love and attention. God is love and the source of love. Romans 5:5 says God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. After the infilling of love from the source ie God, Jesus commanded John 15:12 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Love needs to be expressed both in words and action it’s not valentine day and gifting roses and empty words. It is consistent, patient, sacrificing, kind, does not boast or envy or is easily angered , or keep records -you did that to me on that particular day or proud or dishonour others or what can I get out of this relationship attitude. Love protects, trusts, hopes. The world today to what it was a decade or two ago is devoid of love, it’s more material centric. Hence Jesus asked us to spread some of His love to this hurting world. Can we do that?
Prayer
Abba Father, it’s your mandate that we love one another as you loved us. Shed your love into our hearts and give us the grace to love others like you do, in Jesus mighty name. Amen!!
