In John 1:1, John, the apostle unveils the deepest mystery by defining the Word of God as Lord Jesus Christ. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” He aptly defined the very Word that made the entire being, the whole creation and revealed the very mystery that was hidden since ages. In the old testament, we see the very Word of God comes to all the prophets before God uses them for His greater work. In other words, Jesus himself is speaking to His chosen people and giving them directions for His kingdom work. None of these prophets could resist the Word and they go on doing what the Word of God says to them except Jonah. Through Jonah’s example, one can see the real struggle, resistance to do what the Lord says when one is not willing to let go one’s comfort and the natural mind making unsuccessful attempts to win over the supernatural.

Similarly in 1 Kings 19, the Word of the Lord i.e. Jesus Christ converse with Elijah in his melancholy. The still small voice of the Lord made Elijah hid his face out of guilt and ultimately the mantle of the Lord goes off from Elijah and falls on Elisha as he comes in his natural makeup.

The Word of God is speaking to us too. The Holy Spirit in communing within us. Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts, as you did in the rebellion, (Hebrew 3:7-8) Obedience is the key.

When first time, the Word of God came to me in a small still voice like a flash piercing the darkness and hopelessness filled in me, I was filled with joy, had no doubt at all that Jesus has spoken to me. The gloominess in me went away in a second and I felt like I have got a new life. I called everyone and told with joy that Jesus spoke to me. I always desire and pray that God continue to send His word to me, His Holy Spirit commune with me every second of my life.

Prayer:

“Father! I thank you for sending your Word in flesh who showed us the way to reach to you. Thank you Jesus for sending your Holy Spirit in us. Help us to be sensitive to the voice of the Holy Spirit and do what He is speaking to us. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.”
