1 Peter 1: 16,”Be holy because I am holy.”
We can understand the word holy from the above words.

Numbers 20:12
“But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron you did not believe in Me and did not make Me holy in the eyes of the Israelites, therefore you will not be able to take this congregation to the land that I have given them.”
These words clearly say that Aaron and Moses did not believe in God so they were not sanctified by Him.
We know that while Moses and all Israelites were on their way to Canaan, the Israelites demanded water from Moses and Aaron and started complaining against them. As a result, Moses and Aaron started praying to God. God heard their plead and asked Moses to take his stick and touch the rock.
Numbers 20:8 “Take the staff, and assemble the congregation, you and Aaron your brother, and tell the rock before their eyes to yield its water. So you shall bring water out of the rock for them and give drink to the congregation and their cattle.”
Numbers 20:10-11,
“Then Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock, and he said to them, “Hear now, you rebels: shall we bring water for you out of this rock?” And Moses lifted up his hand and struck the rock with his staff twice, and water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their livestock.”
We see in the above verses that Moses did not obey God completely and did not speak to the rock instead hit it twice. Secondly, he referred to the Israelites as a rebellious nation.
He did not show gratitude towards God for being merciful to them in front of the Israelites nor showed kindness or a forgiving attitude towards them. This was what displeased God and He replaced them with Joshua and Caleb who were completely dependent upon the directions of God and God chose them to be the leaders of the Israelites.
In the New Testament also we see that Jesus never took the credit for any miracle upon Himself but always gave full credit to the faith of the person seeking the miracle and to God.Jesus always preached about the love and kindness of God. Jesus preached about the righteousness of God and that the righteous shall live by faith.
For example when Jesus resurrected Mary’s brother Lazarus, first He prayed to the Father and then requested Him to raise him up. In the same way, we should humble ourselves and pray with a thankful heart.
Prayer:
Father, we thank You for sending Your son Jesus to show us how to talk to You and pray to You. Jesus showed us how to intercede for others with kindness. Help us to remain humble and kind with others in Jesus name we ask. Amen.
