For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11
A very familiar verse from the book of Jeremiah. This is the Lord saying “I know the plans”, this means He has a plan with regards to us and He knows. Plans that will prosper us, give us hope and a future. Wow!! The Lord of this universe who created around 200 billion galaxies, 100 thousand million stars in the Milky Way alone, (astronomers say) says that He thinks of , is interested in “you, I , me, insignificant me”, and He also has a plan. He likes to see us prospered in all facts of our life, there’s a great hope and a bright future. When Moses tells God in Exo 3:13,” come on God, the Israelites will definitely want to know who sent me”. Exo 3:14 God said to Moses, tell them, “I AM WHO I AM”!!!
If it was George Washington or Abraham Lincoln or Barrack Obama, all of them would say they are “former presidents” none will say “ I am the President” But our God is eternal and everlasting. (Deut 33:27). The Pharoah said,” who is this God? I don’t know Him, never heard of Him.” Exo 5:2 And God said, no worries, hold on you are about to see WHO I AM!!! That display of who He is, was epochal. In 2 Cor 6:18 And, I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty. John 1:12 This privilege is available only to those who receive and believe in Him. I am in awe that this unrivalled, unparalleled God chose to know me and make me His and I can call Him, Abba Father (Rom 8:15).
Psalm 65:2 O You who hear prayer, To You all flesh will come, says the psalmist. This means man has experimented, researched ,tried praying to other gods and has not got the desired results, it all fell on deaf ears. Idols don’t answer, we know Rameses tried it when his son died, it was useless. Well, at least I have and I can assure you that there’s none like Jesus who hears my cries Psalm 18:6, I am here and am whatever, purely because He heard and still hears from prayers and answers them.
In short in Jer 29:11, God is giving a proposal and He has a mind set to take care of you and your needs. We must understand the word, know this and also know to whom our prayers are addressed to.
If this was spoken by my friend, my family member or someone out there then, I must obviously have my doubts on their ability or whether they would keep their word, man can change his word any time, his countenance can also change. Obtaining and manifesting of the promises of God in our life is possible only through prayer.
Prayer has to be scripture based and God promises to honour His word above His name, rivet this into yourself. Prayer is to be done all the time, consistently, fervently. Your destiny, security, eternity is assured by God and the only access code to the Father is Jesus.
Approach prayer not hoping but assured that God will answer your prayers. Let us not be complacent but let us ignite our prayer altars to live a victorious life in Christ.
