“It was at this time that He went off to the mountain to pray, and He spent the whole night in prayer to God.”
Luke 6:12

Research shows that for an average adult, the minimum recommended hours of sleep per day is 7 hours and if we won’t have that our mental and physical health will gradually deteriorate. Ultimately our body needs rest and none can deny this. However, do we have any recommended hours for Prayer without which a believer cannot live?
We can know this from the life of Jesus. How much do we see Jesus taking rest after walking for miles and miles, going from one place to another, incessantly preaching and teaching the Word of God, healing the people.
“In the early morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went away to a secluded place, and was praying there.”
Mark 1:35
Jesus used to pray entire night to God withdrawing himself from the world to a solitary place where he can be alone with His father and intercede for people. That is what he said in Matthew 6:6 it’s our prayer in secret that will bring fruits in our lives.
Jesus knew that it’s His Personal Prayer with God, the Father, that is the vitamin and mineral of His body. When he was to choose His 12 disciples, He “spent the night praying to God” (Luke 6:12). Whether it be of taking a momentous decision or for giving thanks i.e.after He fed the 5000, He withdraws to be alone with God (Matthew 14:23), Jesus will be on His knees to seek God, the Father. How much more we should seek Him in such weighty moments in our lives!
“In the days of His flesh, He offered up both prayers and supplications with loud crying and tears to the One able to save Him from death, and He was heard because of His piety.”
Hebrews 5:7
We call ourselves believer, follower and soldier of the army of our Lord Jesus Christ. The entire day we battle against devil’s schemes and devices and in doing so from where do we derive our strength? Its our constant prayers with God which fills us with a new hope, vigor and a fresh anointing. Let’s pray without ceasing (1Thessalonians 5:17) Let’s Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near. (Isaiah 55:6)
Prayer
Father draw us near to you as we fail to pray often and rely on our wisdom and strength, remind us, wake us up Lord to intercede for our people, fill us Lord with your loving kindness and mercy. As we get weary of this life, give us rest Father in your loving embrace and prepare us to march ahead so that we can finish this race and with pride we too can say of the work that you have given us- “It is Finished”.
In Jesus name we ask and pray.
Amen
