Daniel 2 Message-28.10.2022

Stewardship

In the world, We are mostly identified by the work we do , how much success we have, how much we have accumulated. This is what the worldy people value. What do we value as God’s children?

Col 1:13 says ‘he has delivered us from the power of darkness and has transferred us into the kingdom of his dear Son.

We have been given the choice to choose between the value system of the world of darkness (example, the tag people place on us )or the value system the world of light, to which God has transferred us by His precious blood.

This is the true value God places on me; I am a new creature ,a child of God and heir of God , a servant of righteousness and of God  ( Romans6:18,22).

Let us see the life of Prophet Moses. ( Hebrews 11:23-27) How was Moses able to forsake Egypt? Moses valued the eternal things More than he valued the treasures of Egypt (vs 26) . His values were based on his faith in God, that was taught to him by his parents . He rejected a life of comfort in the palace and chose to identify with God’s people who were suffering in slavery. Moses had a good report with God because of the choice he made ( verse2 ) . When we make a pattern of right choices, it results in good character .

Every believer has one main line of work: being a steward or manager of the resources God has entrusted to him/ her.

In Mathew 25 : 14 – 30, we see a man who is travelling to a far country, entrusting his goods to his servants.

Likewise it is God Who owns every thing in our life but he has entrusted us with taking care of his good resources.

We need to acknowledge God’s ownership of all that we have , what is committed to our trust

( 1 Tim 6:30) and manage His resources “heartily as to the lord and not into men ” ( col 3:23), for we are Christ’s servants, pleasing Him ( Gal 1:10) and knowing that one day we need to give account to God ( Rom 14:12).

Though I am a medical doctor by profession , I spent considerable number of years as a home maker . God made me realise that everything I have : my children, my family, degrees, work , are all God’s resources given to me and not mine! I realised my children were God’s children given to me to take care of and this also changed my attitude towards various relationships within the family.
