How’s Our Relationship With God?
As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem Isaiah 66:13

It so happened that my son who was with us for a brief stay left for his hostel last week. I sort of missed him as he was around for some time. For the first few days, I was calling him a few times, which was way many times for him that he started expressing his displeasure.
When I was thinking back, it was always one-way initiation of calls over the past few days. As I was mulling over this, a came a call from him. I was like feeling elated. So, there’s reciprocation. When we hopped on the call, he said his laptop had some issues with MS Office installation, and obviously he needed assistance.
Down went my spirits. If it weren’t for the need, maybe he wouldn’t have called me, I muttered to myself. Doesn’t he love me?
Oh! Wait! Isn’t it the same way we connect with God?
We conveniently stay away from Him when we chase worldly pursuits. Very often we rationalize that we are too busy to spend quality time with God and that He understands us.
Don’t we realize that we inflict pain on him with our indifferent attitude? After all, didn’t he love us so much that he sent his one and only son for redeeming us?
God’s self-effacing love..
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16
Every time we ignore his presence, every time we don’t confide in him, every time we go against his wishes, every time we value men more than Him and every time we backstab him, I can hear Him say the words I uttered. “Doesn’t my daughter love me? Doesn’t my son love me?”
“Oh! How much I love my son/daughter! If only he/she realizes,” He would say wistfully.
It was when all doors are closed on us and there is no way out that we turn to Him. Does God use the opportunity to get back at us? Never and ever!
God’s Unchanging Love
Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you
– Isaiah 54:10
This is the kind of unchanging love God has promised us.
Let’s not forget that He is a friend at all times and he will never leave us or forsake us even if it means we remain opportunistic. But isn’t it high time that we let go of this indifferent attitude? It doesn’t have to be out of fear that we seek God. On the contrary, it should be a relationship that has love as its foundation.
Prayer
Our Heavenly father we thank you for the love you have shown to us, give us the grace father to always seek you in our lives, love you and do your will. In Jesus name we pray. Amen
